What is a tackle? Stupid question?
May be a silly question but does anyone know what Champion Data clasify a tackle?
I am interested to know as they do score well in SC
What I am getting at is you see them in the stats but does a tackle constitute:
1. A holding the ball result? (I doubt as there arn't that many awarded)
2. A stoppage and ball up as a result?
3. Dispossesion of the ball carrier but not holding the ball?
4. An attempt that does not disposses the ball carrier?
Something to think about!

I`m pretty sure tony a tackle is awarded when a ball up happens. If its
holding the ball it counts as a tackle and a free kick for.

Any of the above Tony, It does not have to be rewarded, create a stoppage or force the ball to spill. It must however hinder the ball carrier to some degree. The player who is first to get hold of the ball carrier is the player rewarded the tackle and not the second or third player in a gang tackle.

I looked at this last year and I am pretty sure it is if you stop the oppostion disposing the ball effectively, for instance if judd grabs newman with 1 hand and slings him and newman gets a little handball off to lids running by that isn't a tackle.
