A Different Team
Hey Guys. This is my team at the moment. will likely change a bit before the season begins but for the most part is settled. Got $113,500 left. Went for something different as i don't see the point in going with the crowd on most picks.
Backs: Enright, Duffield, Thornton, Hurn, Hooker, Greenwood, Schoenmakers (Maguire, Trengove)
Midfield: Boyd, Priddis, Sherman, Trengove, Martin, Barlow (Banner, Shuey)
Rucks: Sandi, Hmac (Skipper, Lobbe)
Forwards: Chappy, Roo, ROK, Pav, Gray, Mayne, Moore (Rockliff, Hitchcock)
Was on hooker (pre nab cup ) and schoey for a while and i believe they have alot to give.
Mids premiums are risky but are different. seen all of them play and like it. sherman an X factor.
Set and forget rucks. if one goes down for a while, they get traded out.
top heavy forward line i know.

Re: A Different Team
mate i know you're going for different but have a few issues.
Sherman - less time in the midfield this year with Redden, rockliff, buchannan and staker as well as Patfull pushing into those roles.
Duffield - didn't finish the last half of last year that well to be honest. i had him in for a while but looked and saw only averaged 80 odd in last 9 games (broughton taking points off him)
chappy - scores a good average but have a good look at overall points and you will see he's a big risk. Reckon Brown is set for a massive year this year playing more up the field on the wing with staker/clark and fev in the fwd line.
mayne - prefer balllantyne, pushes up the ground more, mayne will play too high this season with pav back at CHF.
you've taken some risks but those 4 are the most questionable for me.

Re: A Different Team
Sorry Dom but this team is average at best. Dont pick a team just to be "different". Players are generally popular because they are good performers. Players are unpopular because they are poor performers....
Maybe you should put Keppler Bradley as your ruck 1? He will be unique.... Get my point?

Re: A Different Team
As the others said.
Teams start fairly similar esp with prems. It's the rookies that will win or loose for you in the long run.
Pick and trade them right and you've got yourself a winning team come finals.
Being different doesn't win - being smart does.
Not that I 'copy' other teams, but you can get some good ideas behind why coaches pick players they do (esp rookies) - a bit of lateral thinking goes into a bit as well.

Re: A Different Team
Dom I`m really not sure just because your team is different it will do
well. The players you have picked are really unreliable and are ageing making
them slowly fall in price.

Re: A Different Team
Well it was a little updated version of my old team. haven't gone on the supercoach site much recently.
my new team looks like:
Backs: Enright, Thornton, Hurn, Gilbee, Hooker, Schoenmakers, Waters (Maguire, Trengove)
Midfield: Pendlebury, Selwood, Boyd, Trengove, Martin, Barlow (Banner, Shuey)
Rucks: Sandi, Hmac (Warnock, Lobbe)
Forwards: Roo, ROK, Pav, Gray, Giansiracusa, Mayne, Moore (Rockliff, Hitchcock)
190k left.
Had sherman in before the nab cup. with the emergance of those guys i reconsidered. thanks fatcat.
didn't know that about duffield. Damn broughton . Wasn't sold on chappy because of those hammies but when he plays, he scores really well.
sorry i know i could get dangerfield instead of mayne, but i like the looks of mayne so i'll keep him for now. but if i do the above, i'll trade him out for gia.
Charlo who do you think is old? i can only see enright, boyd, roo and pav getting a bit older but they ain't over 30.
