James Podsiadly
Got great news for my team and other people out there!
Here is the link:
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/rookie-james-podsiadly-spurs-rethink-on-cats-attack/story-e6frf9jf-1225830109103
Read the herald sun today and found an article on this 28 year old rookie. Before the season starts geelong have a choice to upgrade a rookie to the senior list after Mitch Brown was recently taken to the LTI list. And The Pods is almost 100% likely to be elevated. At only 83,000 looks to be the perfect option for your bench spot!
The good thing about this guy is that he is 28 years old and has had ALOT of experience in Geelongs VFL side, and winning the medal for the most goals kicked, so he can kick straight, unlike Mooney!
This guy is going to be the next cult hero, behind Richo

Hmmmm....
Interesting read.
I had him in, then out, then in, and currently out......
Def looks like he's a cow for 2010.
Keep an eye on further updates I'd say

i really like mature rookies, similar to broughton last year. mature bodies playing with men can easily slide into the speed and size of AFL. anyone know of any other mature rookies that may be worth a look at?

There was an article on fanfooty in december or early january. mainly about the drafted mature aged guys.

Pods seems to be a good cash cow this year. definately in the cats nab cup team. with stokes gone a space has opened up and might be fighting with 1 or 2 other guys (gamble and maybe lonergan) for it.

Re: James Podsiadly
him and Dennis-Lane are leading my mature age rookie forward bench at the moment. Of course that could all go to sh**t at 5pm on thursday afternoon pre round 1 but its the plan at the moment

What about Hawkins? They wouldn't play Hawkins, Mooney and Podsiadly, would they?

Re: James Podsiadly
why not?
still would leave them with plenty of run through the midfield and crumbers but an extra tall to kick to that can actually kick straight would be an asset.
Could rotate either of them through the ruck in the forward line occasionally.
Personally I think it makes them more potent with the 3 targets, hawkins can get up the ground a bit more. they're not what you'd call loping forwards

Re: James Podsiadly
i'd pick ottens and hawkins to rotate ruck back up to blake. the cats could have 3 talls up forward and another 1 in the ruck when they rest blake.
had my eye on hawkins since preseason began. looks like he will have a breakout year this year and will play more rucks. might be the clark or ryder for the year.
